Something old, something new, something borrowed… and perhaps, soon, something blue? When it comes to method dressing, no one does it quite like Zendaya. Case in point? The array of bridal-inspired looks she’s worn to promote her upcoming film, The Drama, which arrives in theaters on Friday.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day actress confirmed that she and longtime stylist Law Roach are, in fact, taking a very bridal approach to her press tour looks in honor of the Kristoffer Borgli film. They even drew inspiration from a Victorian-era English rhyme detailing what a bride should wear for good luck and good fortune.
“We just happened to be wearing white a lot, but I didn’t want that to be the only theme. And I know that the saying is, ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.’ So, I started with something old… and it happened to be a wedding dress,” Zendaya told TV personality Maura Higgins during The Drama’s premiere on March 17.
Zendaya’s last stint of method dressing was in early 2024, when she put a high-fashion spin on tenniscore to promote her sports romantic drama Challengers, directed by Luca Guadagnino. In the movie, The Euphoria star plays a tennis phenom-turned-high-profile coach, and her press tour looks — think Wimbledon white and tennis balls on high heels — were all at once whimsical and quietly luxurious.
Below, Yahoo breaks down how Zendaya has brought blissful bridal dressing to the red carpet for The Drama so far.
Something old

For the Los Angeles premiere of The Drama on March 17, Zendaya stepped out in an ivory Vivienne Westwood gown, the same one she wore to her first-ever Oscars in 2015. The silk-satin frock, which just so happens to be a wedding gown, was complete with a delicately draped off-the-shoulder neckline and Vivienne Westwood’s signature corseted bodice. Chopard teardrop earrings and her rumored wedding band made for the perfect finishing touches of her “something old” look.
Something new

As for her “something new”? Zendaya attended the Paris premiere of The Drama on March 24 in a custom Louis Vuitton gown. The dress, with its high neckline, contoured silhouette and long sleeves, featured an upper-back cut-out and a large contrasting black bow that doubled as a train. She completed her bridal look with layers of David Morris jewels.
Something borrowed

To fulfill “something borrowed,” Zendaya looked to fellow A-lister Cate Blanchett. Straying away from bridal white, the Euphoria star wore a black silk Armani Privé gown for the Italian premiere of The Drama on March 26. With its architectural silhouette and plunging neckline adorned with large black gemstones, Zendaya’s borrowed gown made quite the statement.
Roach celebrated the look on X, where he thanked Blanchett for lending them the gown.
Blanchett, who’s known to rewear her red carpet looks, debuted the dress at the 2022 Actor Awards before wearing it once more at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
